FIBA Women’s World Cup trophy development

Following a successful competitve tender, our brief was to conceive and produce a new flagship trophy for our long standing partners at FIBA. The silverware needed to respect the heritage of the original trophy, yet look forward to driving the future of Women’s Basketball with its modernity and contemporary finishes.

We also conceived and produced the official launch film for the trophy. Both FIBA & Women’s Basketball’s brand values are deeply embedded in the trophy concept itself and the launch film visualises those concepts further. The CGI Animated piece involved creating a photoreal CG version of the trophy itself, along with developing complex fluid and particle systems to convey the cutting edge construction of the silverware. The result is a carefully considered balance of both elegance and strength.

From the unified diamonds adorning it’s base to the crown of infinite energy flowing upwards, the trophy is a true symbol of aspiration for the next team hoping to become part of Basketball Royalty.

Crafted from gold plated sterling silver, grown over a resin composite with gloss white enamel detailing - the physical trophy is a unique combination of contemporary engineering and traditional silversmith techniques.

This trophy also completes the new FIBA World Cup family suite, to join the U17 & U19 silverware also designed and produced by WORKS and of course the Men’s Naismith Trophy.

Our clients include some of the world’s most prestigious and leading brands and global organisations.
